ISLAMABAD, March 27: The Deputy Director, South West Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, Yo Osumi, accompanied by Toshikazu Isomura, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, called on Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Irshad Hassan Khan at the Election Commission here on Wednesday.

The chief election commissioner briefed the Japanese delegation as to the ongoing electoral process in Pakistan.

Yo Osumi invited Justice Irshad to visit Japan on any date convenient to him. The chief election commissioner accepted the invitation in principle.

Yo Osumi said that he came to Pakistan to express his sincere support to Pakistan’s democratization process.

The Japanese official said he had also come to extend invitation to the chief election commissioner to visit Japan, which had already been conveyed through President Gen Pervez Musharraf by the prime minister of Japan.

EC MEETING: A meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner, Irshad Hasan Khan, here on Wednesday.
