17 villages without power for 3 months

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, March 27: Around 20,000 residents of 17 villages in Bajwat along the working boundary have been without electricity for the last three months.

In a special meeting here on Wednesday, residents of Kachhi Maand union council adopted a resolution urging the Gepco chairman and Sialkot district Nazim to restore electricity supply without any delay.

The participants said due to heavy Indian shelling on these villages, the supply of electricity was disrupted about three months ago. Since then, no effort has yet been made by the Gepco authorities to restore power supply.

Due to the non-availability of electricity, residents of these border areas have been forced to live in open during summer and Indian forces often hit these villagers, they added.

CATTLE SHOW: The first annual cattle show began on Wednesday in Aadha village, Daska tehsil.

According to a press release, the milk contest among all kinds of buffaloes and cows will be held on March 28 (today) under the supervision of the Punjab Livestock Department.
