New CCRI director

MULTAN, March 26: Mr Islam Gill has taken over as the director of Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI), Multan, on Tuesday.

His predecessor, Dr Zahoor Ahmed, has been posted at the headquarters of the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee as director, research.

According to a press release of the CCRI, Mr Gill hails from Faisalabad. He did his MSc (honours) in agriculture from the University of Agriculture of his hometown. Later on, he attended courses in the field of agriculture at various international universities of England and America. Cotton is said to be his speciality for the last 32 years in the field of research.

The release claims that Mr Gill has the credit of introducing cotton sowing in Balochistan and Frontier provinces.
