Minor boy kidnapped

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, March 24: A group of bandits in police uniform kidnapped an eight-year old boy belonging to a Hindu family from a village of UC Mubarikpur, some 30km away from here, on Sunday.

The bandits armed with automatic weapons forced their entry into the house of Paro Meghwar and tried to take his son, Raja, 8.

When the members of his family offered resistance, the bandits beat them with rifle butts and injured Kori, Paro and Prem, the mother, father and uncle of Raja, respectively, and took away the boy.

Later the villagers led by Nazim, UC Mubarikpur, Sher Mohammad Maher, staged a protest demonstration and demanded immediate recovery of the kidnapped boy.

On information, DPO, Sukkur, Mr Deen Mohammad Baloch, with a police contingent reached there, cordoned the entire kutcha area and assured the protestors of early recovery of the hostage.

STAMPEDE: A young resident of Mirpur Mathelo, Asghar Channa, died in a stampede during a mourning process in Rohri on Saturday night.

Thousands of people from Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Pano Aqil and Mirpur Mathelo participated in the procession.
