Windies must improve, says Harper

PORT-OF-SPAIN, March 23: Blunders in the field and running between the wickets have affected the overall performance of the West Indies cricket team in series at home and aboard, coach Roger Harper claimed Friday.

Commenting on the start of a week-long training camp here in preparation for the series against India next month, Harper stressed: “We must improve in every aspect of the game.

“We will be working on the basics and try to get it right. I want all the (22) players to be totally focused on the approach we plan for the home series against India because we want to be competitive and successful against them,” said Harper.

The former Guyanese and West Indies allrounder said Gary Sobers’ role during the camp would be to help everyone in the team, particularly with their batting.—AFP
