SIALKOT, March 23: Three children were seriously injured on Saturday in a landmine blast in Shehrug village of the Sialkot working boundary’s Bajragarhi sector.
Official sources said Ehsanullah (8), Naveedullah (12) and Muhammad Zaman (14) were passing through a field when they ran over the landmine which went off, injuring them seriously. They were admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.
Meanwhile, a youth also sustained serious injuries in shelling by Indian troops on Umaraanwali village in the Sucheetgarh sector.
Official sources told Dawn that Muhammad Shahid (19) was ploughing his fields when some bullets hit him. He was also shifted to Sialkot CMH in critical condition.
PROCESSIONS: As many as 69 Zuljinnah processions will be taken out amid tight security on Ashura in the Sialkot district.
SSP Muhammad Tahir told newsmen here on Saturday that foolproof arrangements had been made to avert any untoward incident.
He said six processions would to taken out from the city circle, 30 from Saddar circle, 21 from Pasrur and 22 from Daska tehsil.
CASES: Motra police on Saturday registered cases against six outlaws for possessing six 44 bore rifles with fake licences.
Muhammad Idrees, Bashir Ahmad, Abdul Sattar, Muhammad Arshad, Azhar Jawaid and Nazir Ahmad have been sent to jail.
Meanwhile, Motra police also recovered an illicit 30 bore pistol from accused Zulfiqar Ali of Dobuji Virkan village, Motra.
Moreover, on the Rachhara-Motra-Daska Road, two unidentified armed robbers snatched a motorcycle (STG-3784), Rs3,500 in cash and a wristwatch from a schoolteacher, Akram Khan.
Motra police have registered a case.
AIRPORT: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Nespak have finalized the master plan and the proposed infrastructure of the Sialkot International airport.
During a meeting here on Saturday, a Nespak team led by general manager projects Ejaz Saeed assured the SCCI that work on the project would be started within two months.
