FARMERS’ WARNING: The Kissan Board Pakistan has threatened that it would organize a protest march to Islamabad on April 25 if its demand to review the wheat procurement policy was not met by the government.

KBP president Sadiq Khan Khakwani told a farmers’ gathering at Tailwala near Yazman on Saturday that public meetings and rallies would be taken out from April 10 across the country against the government’s wheat and canal water policy.

He demanded that support price for wheat should be fixed at Rs400 per 40 kilograms, procurement drive should be continued till the purchase of all stocks from farmers instead of fixing the target.

Mr Khakwani also demanded that gunny bags and pass books should be provided on personal surety instead of attestation by the union council Nazim and restoration of all wheat procurement centres.
