Hesco orders inquiry against line officials

MIRPURKHAS, March 20: The executive engineer, Hesco, Mirpurkhas operation division, Bashir Ahmed Baloch, has taken serious notice of the report regarding the engaging of private persons by Hesco officials in the city sub-division for electricity works.

He has ordered an inquiry into the matter and appointed Bashir Ahmed Chacho, SDO, Hesco, Hirabad sub-division, as an inquiry officer.

The inquiry officer will submit his report with in 10 days.

It may be mentioned here that some line superintendents had allegedly been involved in engaging private persons for the repair works.

During last a few days some of them were injured when they fell down from the electric pole while working on it.

FAILURE: The Kot Ghulam Mohammad police have failed to get any clue about the kidnapped medical officer, taluka hospital, Dr. Deedar Hussain Leghari, who was kidnapped on Tuesday.

Reports said that Dr. Leghari was on his way in his car (AE-627) to Kot Ghulam Mohammad town from Mirpurkhas on Tuesday night when four unknown dacoits intercepted his car near railway crossing of Kot Ghulam Mohammad town and abducted him on gunpoint.

SAB: Haji Abdul Ghafoor Mahar, vice president, Sindh abadgar board, and Imtiaz Panhwar, general secretary of the board, have demanded of the chairman Wapda and other authorities concerned to stop the installation of tube-wells under LBOD project, Mirpurkhas.

They said that seepage problems had already ended in the area and water table had gone down.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, they said that there was dire need of water in the area, and in the wake of acute shortage of water, if the tube wells were installed it would further bring down water table and affect agriculture.

ACCIDENT: A boy was crushed to death under the wheels of a passenger bus at Khan chowk, ring road here on Wednesday.

Report said that three boys were going on a bicycle, when one of the boys Rehan, 9, son of Mohammad Hussain Qureshi, fell down.

A speedy bus 9969-050) crushed him under the wheels, and he died on the spot.

DEMONSTRATION: Over fifty growers of the Doso Shakh staged a demonstration on Wednesday here in front of the press club. They were protesting against non-availability of water in Doso Shakh.

Carrying banners and placards, they raised slogans against the XEN Mithrao.

Talking to newsmen their leaders alleged that irrigation officials of Mithrao division were involved in selling water to influential landlords and depriving other people of their share of water.

They demanded of Sindh Governor and the secretary irrigation to ensure water supply.

ARRESTED: Umerkot police have nabbed three alleged motorcycle robbers during a raid from taluka Umerkot on Wednesday.

On a tip off, Umerkot police carried out the raid and arrested accused Ali Bux, Mahar Ali Kalro and Dildar Shar and seized illegal arms, including 2 pistols and a gun from their possession.

Police said that they had allegedly robbed a motorcycle (MPS-2867) from Lal Bux Lashari on gunpoint a few days ago.
