Weapons, liquor seized

MUZAFFARABAD, March 20: Police in the Bhimbher district on Wednesday raided a house at Sanwan village, Barnala Tehsil, and seized local liquor and illegal ammunition.

Bhimbher Police Superintendent Tariq Ajmi told Dawn by telephone that a CIA police party seized 355 bottles of local liquor, three bottles of foreign liquor, six hand grenades, two mousers, one Kalashnikov and 144 rounds at the house of Jamil Akhtar, son of Abdul Hameed.

The police also arrested a resident of Lahore, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Mohammad Bashir, who, the SP said, was the supplier of the contraband items in the area.
