HARIPUR, March 19: By-elections on 69 local bodies seats of the district would be held by mid-April, sources told Dawn here on Monday.

Some of these seats remained uncontested during the LB polls held on July 2, 2001, while some fell vacant following the election of the union councillors to tehsil or district councils.

The by-elections would be held on 20 seats of women peasants/workers, 17 general seats (women), 32 minority seats and one seat reserved for the district council from the Ghazi tehsil. The sources confirmed that arrangements for the by-polls had already been completed and that the elections would be held by mid-April.
