KARACHI: Jahangir Road drain poses threat to pedestrians
KARACHI, March 14: Uncovered and clogged drains along Jahangir Road, one of the busiest roads of the city, pose serious heath hazards to pedestrians, especially children, besides making the road filthy.
The civic authorities, despite the significance of road, which is links with the Guru Mandir roundabout, have failed to maintain this road, complaints by area residents, who are facing great hardships.
The problem is further compounded by the perennial habit of area residents who throw garbage into these drains, aggravating the problem and making the whole area stinking.
Area residents complained that a few months back one side of the pavement was built but the manholes were left uncovered. This resulted in clogging of the sewers as residents threw garbage into the manholes.
Residents urged the authorities to take effective measures to cover the drains and manholes to prevent the possibility of spread of epidemic in the area.—PPI
