NEW DELHI, March 18: Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said on Monday he would soon visit occupied Kashmir, where he claimed the situation had improved following changes in Pakistan.
“Things have taken a turn. Changes in Pakistan have had an impact on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. It has had a favourable impact. We must take advantage of it,” Vajpayee said in parliament.
Vajpayee, who last visited the held state in Aug 2000, said he would be accompanied by Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani and Defence Minister George Fernandes.
“We will study the situation, we will hold consultations on what kind of strategy to adopt,” Vajpayee said, but did not say when he intended to make the trip.—Reuters
