HYDERABAD, March 17: The contract employees of the Lakhra Power House at a meeting held here on Sunday constituted an action committee to struggle for the rights of the employees.

The chairman of the action committee, Dr Abdul Khaliq Sawand, said that the contract employees had been working at the power house for the last seven years but their salary for the last three months had been withheld with a view to terminating their services.

He said that the Lahore administration had always been trying to close down the power house on flimsy grounds and added that in furtherance of this objective, no equipment had ever been supplied for the repair of the plant.

Mr Sawand appealed to the chairman of Wapda to regularize the services of the contract employees on the pattern of contract engineers and release their three months salaries.
