Asif pumps in five goals

LAHORE, March 14: Malik Asif Yar Tiwana scored five goals, including the winner, to help Uni Gas earn a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Guard Rice in only match of the SHV Energy polo tournament at Lahore Polo Club Thursday.

After the first chukker failed to produce any goal, Irfan Ali Hyder scored back-to-goals for Guard Rice at start of second chukker. He first scored a field goal and thereafter, converted a 40-yard penalty-hit. Bakhtiar Pataudi scored a field goal to reduce the margin for Uni Gas.

At the beginning of the third chukker, Arsalan Najeeb scored on a 60-yard penalty-hit for Guard Rice. Malik Asif Yar Tiwana then scored back-to-back goals for Uni Gas. His second was a conversion on 30-yard penalty-hit.

Both the teams were tied 3-3 a end of third chukker.

Ishaq Khakwani scored his only field goal for Guard Rice after a long chase at the start of fourth chukker. Asif again scored back-to-back goals to put Uni Gas 5-4 ahead.

Arsalan Najeeb scored a field goal for Guard Rice to not only level the match but took the game into extra chukkur. During this period, Asif scored a field goal to carve out a win for Uni Gas.
