Four model schools are non-functional

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, March 14: A hundred-member inter-provincial delegation of community model girls schools arrived here on Thursday to the study the effectiveness of the community model school system.

The members of the delegation belong to all provinces.

Taj Mohammed Seelro, the project manager girls community model schools, Sindh, led the delegation that visited model schools in the district which were 25 in number.

Leader of the delegation informed that four model girls schools in Larkana were non-functional due to the non-availability of local teachers.

The interviews would be held in Sukkur where locals would be preferred in recruitment so that the problem of non-availability of the teachers could be solved, he added.

The District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mohammed Hashim Leghari while briefing the delegation disclosed that under foreign funded projects, Annual Development Programme and phase three of the Khushhal Pakistan Programme an amount of Rs19.415 million had been earmarked to undertake the repair, renovation and the construction of new schools buildings in the district.

Educational facilities would be provided to the schools in remote areas and primary girls schools would be given priority, he added.
