KARACHI, March 13: The 2002 FIFA World Cup is the first global festivity of 21st century and both Korea and Japan are making allout efforts to display unity and harmony in co-hosting this grand international sport event.
This was stated by Consul General of Republic of Korea See-Young Lee, while speaking at a dinner he hosted for the visiting Hyundai Tigers football team here Tuesday night.
He said people of Korea are ready to make this upcoming World Cup the most unforgettable and impressive global festivity ever - the momory of which will remain for a life time in hearts of people around the world.
See-Young Lee said countdown to 2002 FIFA World Cup has now begun. It will kick off on May 31, 2002 in Seoul, Korea, venue of the opening ceremony and continue till June 30. The final ceremony will be held in Japan.
The Korean Consul General said Hyundai football team is in Karachi to play friendly matches with Pakistan’s football team. These matches will play very important role in not only bringing two football teams and fans of both countries closer but also strengthen friendly relations between Pakistan and Korea.
He hoped football will equally be popular in Pakistan like cricket and hockey in due course of time.
Ghulam Abbas Baloch Vice President PFF lauded visit of Hyundai football team and said it will enable Pakistani players learn latest techniques. He also welcomed co-hosting of World Cup by Korea and Japan and prayed for success of Korean team.
