Ganguly retains captaincy

KOCHI (India), March 13: Saurav Ganguly was Wednesday retained as India captain for the upcoming tour of the West Indies despite his unimpressive overseas record.

“The decision to retain Ganguly as captain was taken by the five-member selection committee headed,” said Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah.

India will play five Tests and as many one-dayers on the West Indies tour, beginning next month.

Ganguly has yet to lead India to an away Test series victory since taking over from Sachin Tendulkar in 2000.—AFP
