LAHORE, March 13: Four favourites in a card of six won the mid-week Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse Wednesday.

The punters had a a happy beginning when the odds-on favourite bay colt Bach View had an easy sailing by five lengths over Little Master in the first race of the afternoon.

Second race was feature event and was claimed by half-money favourite bay Royal Strength to give the filly her second consecutive victory. She is owned by Makhdoom Syed Raza Shah. The winner beat the chestnut horse Rukhsh by three lengths. Fair Boy and  Zargar completed the board among eleven runners left-in the field after the withdrawal of Mon Soon and Royal Prosper.

The biggest disappointment for punters’ came in third race in which the rank-outsider bay gelding Thank You Dear beat the even-money public fancy Tiger’s Wood by two lengths. The favourites Nijinsky and Prince Of Peace won the fourth and  fifth races, respectively.

However, long-shot chestnut gelding Crysler won the sixth and  last  race of the day, upsetting all calculations. In this event, the fancied bay colt Royal Gamble ran below expectations to be beaten by a big margin of nine lengths. Crysler had run off the board in his last outing on March 10 (Sunday).

Meanwhile, the Jockey Club Of Pakistan (JCP) has approved action taken by the Lahore Race Club (LRC) to disqualify six animals from March 2 and not allow them to run in races meant for the Pakistani thoroughbreds and half-breds.

The disqualified animals are: four-year-old colt Steal The  Show, three-year-old filly Sweet Touch, three-year- old colt Speed Star, mare Four Aces, mare Song Of Peace and Fancy Light.
