GUJRANWALA, March 13: Four police officials, including an ASI, were arrested on Wednesday when a court rejected their bail applications.

Those arrested are ASI Muhammad Nawaz, Head Constable Muhammad Sarwar and constables Muhammad Ayub and Allah Rakha. However, constables Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Akhtar and Muhammad Azam, who were arrested on the SSP orders, were granted bail and released from jail.

Ladheywala police arrested five people involved in a dacoity about two weeks ago and later shifted them to Gujranwala Sadar police lock-up. They escaped after throwing red chili powder in the eyes of police guards. Three constables were arrested on the SSP’s order. They got an interim bail from a court when they came to know about registration of a criminal case against them.

DISMISSED: Three postmasters who were caught selling fake stamps were dismissed from service on Wednesday.

A raiding team recovered fake stamps from the possession of Climaxabad postmaster Muhammad Ishaq, Wahdat Colony postmaster Muhammad Yasin and Saghir Shaheed Road postmaster Manzoor Shah.

Later, an inquiry was conducted and they were found guilty.
