SIALKOT, March 13: The district government, in collaboration with the Unicef, will observe an education week from April 1 under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme.
This was stated by Sialkot District Naib Nazim Ali Asjad Malhi while talking to the newsmen here on Wednesday.
He said that the district government would spend Rs160 million for the provision of clean drinking water and for the construction of buildings, additional class rooms, boundary walls and toilets in Sialkot’s 225 girls primary schools.
Mr Malhi said that the Punjab government allocated Rs45 million to make Sialkot a model district of information technology with the local business community.
INDIAN FIRING: Chenab Rangers foiled another Indian attempt to fence Sialkot working boundary near Jammu sector on Wednesday morning, destroying two big Indian pillars.
According to the official sources, Indian forces continued on Wednesday intensified firing on villages in Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Jammu, Akhnoor and Narowal sectors.
No causality has been reported.
DIRECTORY: The Punjab government, under the directive of Governor Khalid Maqbool, has decided to publish a directory of all the district and tehsil Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen in the province.
Official sources told Dawn that the provincial local government department has directed all Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen to submit their two fresh photographs and profile at the earliest.
LEAVE RULES: The Punjab government has directed all the district and tehsil Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen in the province to submit ex-Pakistan leave applications of the employees to the Punjab government at least 15 days prior to the date of thea commencement.
INJURED: A villager was injured by Indian security forces’ firing on Harpal village, Sialkot working boundary, on Wednesday evening.
Official sources told Dawn that Ibadat Shah, 31, was standing near his house when bullets hit him. He was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in critical condition.
The firing between the Chenab Rangers and the Indians went on without respite in almost all the sectors of the working boundary till last reports came in.
