ISLAMABAD, March 13: Unesco will support Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan, in its efforts to plan and launch a National Plan of Action on Human Rights Education, said Ms Ingeborg Breines, Director of Unesco, Islamabad.
She was speaking at the inaugural session of a National Seminar on Human Rights Education, organized by curriculum wing of the Ministry of Education with technical and financial support of Unesco. The two-day seminar is being attended by educators from all the four provinces.
Knowledge of human rights and respect for the rights of others was an important principal and a building block of human society, stated Ms Ingeborg Breines.
She congratulated the Ministry of Education for taking steps to introduce and integrate human rights education at school level, through revision of curricula, text books and teacher training.
Mr Tariq Farook, Federal Secretary of Education, while inaugurating the seminar, emphasized the role of human rights for character-building of future generation. He reiterated the golden principle of mutual co-existence in today’s world of global village.
