Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, March 13: The candidates for the post of Nazim and Naib Nazim from union council-8, Hyderabad city, Munawar Khan Zai and Raees Ahmed Qureshi respectively, have appealed to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court and law secretary to appoint an election tribunal for Hyderabad without delay so that 150 pending election petitions are decided immediately.
They claimed that they had secured 1964 votes in the local bodies elections but their opponents who had received 1861 votes were declared successful.
The candidates said that against this decision, they had filed an appeal before the district and sessions judge, Badin, who had been appointed as the chairman of the election tribunal for Hyderabad district.
They said that the chairman was transferred to Karachi in January 2002 and this post had been lying vacant for the last two months.
