HYDERABAD, March 13: The secretary, communication and works, government of Sindh, Hafz-ur-Rehman and member board of revenue (land utilization) Ali Raza Khan along with district Nazim Hyderabad, Dr. Makhdoom Rafiquzaman and DCO Hyderabad, Mr. Mohammad Tariq Ayub held an open katchary at the Shahbaz Hall here the other day.
The kutchery was largely attended by Nazims and officers of district government and elite of Hyderabad district.
Mr. Hifz-ur-Rehman told the gathering that government was trying its best to provide basic facilities to the people in consultation with their elected representatives, especially in the field of communication.
He said that the purpose of such open katcharies was to evaluate and over come the problems being faced by the people. Answering a question, he made it clear that declared Katchi Abadies even on the government land would not be removed without providing alternate plots to the affected people. He, however said, encroachments creating traffic problems, would have to be removed.
He said that the bye-pass project of Tando Allahyar had been delayed because of changes in its bridge design, however, efforts were being made to complete it within shortest possible time.
He also instructed the officials of C&W department to install gates on all railway crossing points to protect the lives of the people and directed the officers concerned to prepare estimates for the repair of Wahdat Colony quarters which had been in dilapidated condition for a long time.
Referring to the complaints against the HDA and broken roads and water supply lines in Hyderabad city, the DCO Hyderabad, Tariq Ayub informed the katchary that Sindh govt had sanctioned Rs500 millions for the city schemes which would be utilised for various development projects.
He added that the projects had been prepared in consultation with taluka Nazims and soon after their approval the work on sewerage and water supply would be started.
