HYDERABAD: Meter-reading system to be improved, says Hesco chief

HYDERABAD, March 13: The new chief executive of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, Brig Tariq Arshad, here on Tuesday said that meter reader cards would be provided to the consumers to improve the meter reading system.
He said this at a meeting held here on Tuesday at the Water Wing colony, Hussainabad, after taking over the charge of the chief executive.
The Hesco chief executive banned the issuance of average bills and directed that the work on the replacement of defective meters and the installation of meters outside the consumers premises must be completed without delay.
He pointed out that Kunda system was the main cause of line losses and said that this would have to be eliminated.
Mr Arshad said that the sub-engineers of the five circles of the company should appoint recovery Mukhtiarkars in consultation with the elected Nazims of their areas.
He announced the setting up of power distribution centre to control the load-shedding.
He said that the Hesco would bear the expenses of the burnt general transformers whereas the agricultural, commercial and industrial consumers would bear the expenses of such meters.
The Hesco chief executive directed to establish customer centres in each division and sub-division and said that the time given to the complainant for redressal of his complaint must be followed.
He also directed the sub-engineers and executive engineer to hold open kutcheries to resolve the problems of the consumers.
EXAM DELAYED: The controller of examinations, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, has announced for the information of the concerned that the practical in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, F.N. and C.T subjects of SSC part-I and II annual examination 2002, scheduled to be held from Feb 18, will now commence from Feb 28. SPSC: The Sindh Public Service Commission, Hyderabad, on Wednesday announced the names of the eligible candidates, who were interviewed by the commission for the post of lecturer in Urdu, BPS-17, male and female, in the education department, Sindh.
The SPSC has found 18 male and 13 female candidates fit and recommended their names to the government.
Protest: The representatives of several political and social welfare organizations staged a protest demonstration and observed a token hunger strike outside the Tando Jam Press Club to press for the resolution of the people’s problems.
