QUETTA, March 11: Balochistan Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal has announced a package of Rs15 million for development of the Kila Abdullah district.
He made this announcement, while speaking to the Nazims and the councillors of Chaman and Qila Abdullah on Sunday evening during his visit to Chaman.
The governor also announced upgradation of Government Boys Middle School, Mezai Town, to high school and establishment of the Chaman police area.
The government was considering the proposal to establish a cadet collage in Mastung, he said, adding that the levy force would be increased in Chaman and construction of Chaman-Toba Ackakzai Road would be reviewed in the next annual development programme.
He called upon the Nazims and the councillors of the all the districts and union councils of the province to jointly work for the success of the local bodies system.
Mr Mengal noted that under the local bodies system, a district government was fully empowered to chalk out development schemes and to implement them.
A system of check and balance had been introduced to effectively check corruption and nobody could misuse the official funds, he said and added that “in view of the difficulties being faced by union and tehsil Nazims, it was decided that 40 per cent of the funds would be released to the district governments, 25 per cent to town councils and 35 per cent to union councils directly.”
