By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, March 9: An alleged dacoit was killed while three others managed to escape after an encounter with the people of Shah Kot in the early hours of Saturday.

Four masked men sneaked into the house of one Liaquat, an employee of the State Life Insurance.

According to Mr Liaquat, he saw the dacoits and rang up one of his neighbours. On receiving the message, his neighbour informed others and residents of the locality surrounded Liaquat’s house. They asked the dacoits to escape. As they were fleeing, the people opened indiscriminate fire on the dacoits killing one of them on the spot.

Police reached the spot after an hour. They identified the killed dacoits as a proclaimed offender Shahbaz.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY: Passengers of a luxury bus were deprived of their cash and valuables by six armed men near Tetley Aaly, some 36 kilometres from here, early on Saturday morning.
