Taluka council opposes shifting of institute

By Our Correspondent

MITHI, March 9: The members of taluka council, Mithi, have expressed their serious concern over the shifting of handicrafts institute to Mirpurkhas.

The institute was sanctioned under the Pak Baitulmaal programme for Mithi and its purpose was to train the local girls in different handicrafts.

The shifting of the institute has created great disappointment and resentment among the unskilled girls of the area.

The council passed a resolution moved by a member, Tilokchand, here on the other day, at its session, and demanded of the house to move the district Nazim and District Coordination Officer so that they could order the authorities concerned to reshift the institute to the area. The council also appealed to the government to reopen the institute in Thar.

Debating the issue some of the councillors brought it to the notice of the house that the handicrafts of Thar were very famous all over the world and there was enormous talent among the Thari girls and women, but the shifting of the institute from Thar had deprived them of learning different skills in handicraft.

FIRE BRIGADE: The district council, Tharparkar, four taluka councils and forty union councils do not have any fire brigade.

If a fire breaks out in any village or a town, the authorities concerned will not be able to extinguish it immediately without fire fighting accessories.

Occurrence of such incident usually causes a great loss of property, including shops, houses, cottages, cattle heads and even human lives.
