SARGODHA, March 8: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool has said the government has brought revolution in the country by introducing devolution plan which brought forth honest and responsible leadership.
He was speaking on Friday at the concluding ceremony of Jashn-i-Khushab some 45 kilometres from here.
Governor Maqbool said the government was determined to purge the country of the corrupt people. Though the process was difficult, it would definitely put the country on path to progress and prosperity.
He alleged that the previous government had brought the country on the verge of economic collapse and put its integrity at stake.
He said extremism has earned bad name for the country. The government would not allow any such activity. However, it was promoting healthy activities in the country to develop a moderate society.
The governor urged masses to forge unity among their ranks to frustrate evil designs of the anti-Pakistan elements.
Governor Maqbool said development of agriculture and livestock would be given priority.
He assured the people of Khushab district that they would be provided natural gas. He said he would take up the issue of agricultural tax with the revenue authorities to compensate the losses caused by two years’ drought.
District Nazim Malik Ehsanullah Tiwana presented welcome address and apprised the governor of the problems of the people of the district.
Earlier, the governor inaugurated newly built Allam Iqbal academic bock of District Public School. He directed the principal to reduce the fee and allocate 25 per cent of scholarships to talented and distinction holders.
