BAHAWALPUR, March 6: The Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed dissatisfaction over the purchase drive of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).
The BCCI executive committee, at its meeting held here on Wednesday, reviewed the TCP drive.
It demanded that the TCP should intensify the purchase drive to provide relief to the ginners and growers.
The meeting protested against the increase in gas tariff. It described the increase unjustified as masses were already hit by the increase in electricity and petrol prices.
The meeting ridiculed the statement of secretary for petroleum that the increase would not affect the common man.
The BCCI demanded that increase in gas and petrol prices should be withdrawn immediately.
SUICIDE: A labourer, Abid, reportedly committed suicide in Noorpur, about 30 kilometres from here. According to his family, Abid’s wife had developed illicit relations with a man while he was in Karachi in connection with his work.
RAPE: Kotwali police on Wednesday registered a rape case against one Nazir Ahmad and his two accomplices on the charge of raping a 14-year-old girl ‘J’ of Mubarakpur.
The accused are still at large.
BIKE SNATCHED: One Muhammad Husain, headmaster of boys schools 36-DNB, was deprived of his motorcycle at gunpoint by three people while he was on his way to school from Bahawalpur.
