ISLAMABAD, March 5: Pakistan on Tuesday rejected Indian allegations of spying against two officials of Pakistan High Commission as fabrication to cover up illegal detention and inhuman treatment of Pakistani officials by Indian Intelligence Operatives in New Delhi.
In a statement on Tuesday a Foreign Office spokesman said that at the time of their handing over to the Pakistan High Commission by Delhi police, both officials Gul Zarin and Sultan Mahmood had visible injuries on their bodies confirming severe physical beating by Indian Intelligence officials during detention. The right eye of Sultan Mahmood was also injured, it added.
He said that Pakistan had already lodged a strong protest with the government of India on the abduction, illegal detention and physical torture of officials of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi by Indian Intelligence Operatives, which is a gross violation of internationally accepted diplomatic norms, the Vienna Convention of 1961 on Diplomatic Relations and the Bilateral Code of Conduct singed between the two countries in August 1992.
