SRINAGAR, March 5: At least 13 people were killed in separate overnight clashes in occupied Kashmir, a police spokesman said here on Tuesday.

Three people were killed on Tuesday as freedom fighters holed-up in civilian homes exchanged heavy gunfire with Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, police said.

“A civilian, a Mujahid and a policeman died in the encounter,” a police spokesman said, adding six security personnel were injured, including an Indian army major.

The gunfight erupted late on Monday after police raided a hide-out in Baramulla, 55 kilometres north of Srinagar.

Indian troops in a separate raid on Tuesday shot dead three Mujahideen in northern Kupwara district, the spokesman said.

He said another Kashmiri belonging to the Jaish-i-Mohammed group was gunned down in the neighbourhood by army troops.

In an overnight massacre, unidentified men murdered four Muslim civilians in the district of Rojouri late on Monday night, the official said.—AFP
