SARGODHA, March 5: A gang rape case in which tehsil Naib Nazim was involved took a dramatic turn after the death of accused Public Health Engineering sub-engineer Muhammad Ayub and the Urban area police have registered a murder case against the Naib Nazim and the alleged rape victim.

However, none of the accused could be arrested because they have got pre-arrest bail till March 13.

About two weeks ago police registered a kidnap and rape case against tehsil Naib Nazim Allah Dad Hargan, Muhammad Ayub, Muhammad Khan, Kamran and councillor Ghaffar.

According to FIR, they had kidnapped Nasrin of Wahmiana village and raped her. During the commission of crime, the Naib Nazim drank and opened fire on Ayub. A bullet hit him and another Nasrin. Both the injured were taken to the DHQ Hospital from where Ayub was shifted to Lahore in critical condition where he died. Naib Nazim Hargan took Nasrin to the high court where she gave a statement in his favour.

Meanwhile, police sources told this scribe that Ayub recorded his statement before death naming the Naib Nazim and Nasrin ‘killers’. Police registered a murder case against Hargan and Nasrin on the complaint of Ayub’s brother.

According to Ayub’s statement, the Naib Nazim had borrowed Rs200,000 from him on the occasion of election. When he demanded his money back, the Naib Nazim called him to his place for payment at night. When he reached there all the people, including Nasrin, were dead drunk. Nasrin dragged him to the bed where Hargan opened fired on him. The district and sessions judge, in the meanwhile, directed police to complete the investigation by March 13.
