Communal riots slammed

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 5: The International Human Rights Observer (HIRO) has condemned the communal riots in India.

The human rights body, in a press released issued on Sunday, termed the events of the last days in the Indian state shocking and barbaric.

It lamented that hundreds of people had been killed and many buildings and houses torched during the communal riots.

The HIRO termed the events a great threat to human rights, observing that secularism had totally failed to stop the religious violence in India.
