Man shot dead by rivals

GUJRANWALA, March 4: A man was shot dead by his rivals over a money dispute in Gondana Goraya village here on Monday.

Dost Muhammad was on way home from his outhouse when he was intercepted by Ghulam Rasool and his sons Sanaullah and Attaullah. After exchanging harsh words, they fired at him, injuring him seriously. He died on the way to the local DHQ Hospital. The assailants escaped from the scene.

Saddar police have registered a case and are investigating.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including a matric student, were killed while half a dozen others suffered wounds in road accidents in and around the city here on Monday.

Umer Riaz was on way to drop his cousin Arshad at the Government Secondary School, Wazirabad. Near the railway crossing, a speeding wagon hit him from behind, killing Riaz instantly while his cousin sustained head injuries. He was rushed to the local civil hospital in critical condition.

Ehsanullah of Jandiala Dhabwala village was standing at a bus stop when a speeding coaster crushed him. He died on the spot.

Muhammad Boota of Eminabad was killed while half a dozen other passengers sustained injuries when a speeding wagon crashed into a roadside tree on the Wahando Road. The injured were shifted to the local civil hospital in critical condition.

Ghulam Murtaza of Cantonment was knocked down and killed by a speeding bus near the Sugar Mills Chowk on the GT Road. He was crossing the road. The bus crew escaped from the scene.

Cantonment police have registered a case and are investigating.
