Araya makes difference

LAHORE, March 3: Samsung Blues beat Master Paints/ Remount 7-6 in the Samsung National Open polo championship at the Lahore Polo Club Aibak ground Sunday.

Diego Araya scored five goals including the decider in the five chukker match.

In another match, KFC/Remount beat Samsung Whites 6-4.

Despite this loss, MP/ Remount lead the table with a tally of four points with +2 goal average. Whites, KFC/Remount and Samsung Blues are at second spot with two points, each and all three teams have +2 goal-average.

In the first chukker Deilia Toto put Paints/Remount ahead with a field goal with Araya netting the equaliser at the end of the first.

Gerardo Mazzini scored two goals,for MP/Remount in the second chukker and with another goal by Araya for blues, MP/Remount led 3-2 in the second Chukker.

Blues took over the lead in the third chukker with Atif Tiwana (1), Araya (1) and Taimur (1) scoring for Blues while Ahmad Khan struck a goal for MP/Remount. Blues led 5-4 at end of third chukker.

Araya scored his fourth and Blues’ sixth goal at start of fourth chukker, but Ahmad Khan struck back to score his second and MP/Remount’s fifth goal.

MP/Remount scored one more goal in the fifth chukker with Arraya scoring the decisive goal for the winners.

In the second match there was no score in the first chukker, however in the second chukker Captain Omer and Captain Haseeb Minhas scored for KFC/Remount give them a 2-0 lead.

Toto Collardin and Captain Shahryar scored another two goals for KFC/Remount to make it 4-0 in the third Chukker.

Whites scored their first goal in the fourth chukker through Ramiro Garros but KFC/ Remount struck back with a goal by Collardin to maintain the lead 5-1 at the end of the fourth chukker.

Asif(2), and Garros (1) scored again for Whites but Captain Minhas with a good combination with Captain Shahryar scored the final goal for KFC/Remount to make it 6-4.
