Man, son among 5 killed in accident

GUJRANWALA, March 3: Five people were killed while over a dozen others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in and around the district on Sunday.

Reports revealed Ghulam Husain and his son Pervez Ahmad were waiting for a bus on Sialkot bypass chowk when a rashly-driven coaster knocked them down. They were taken to the Civil Hospital where they expired.

The bodies were handed over to the family the same day.

One Abdul Rashid died on the spot while half a dozen others injured when a wagon collided with a motorbike on the Hafizabad Road.

The injured were admitted to the Civil Hospital in precarious condition.

Meanwhile, a wagon rammed into a roadside tree on the Alipur Chattha Road. Muhammad Imran died instantly while several others received injuries. They were taken to the Alipur Chattha Civil Hospital in critical condition.

An elderly man Inayatullah of Jandiala Dhabwala was knocked down by a speeding vehicle on the GT Road. He died within minutes.

ARRESTED: The CIA staff police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two traffickers with narcotics in quantity during a raid in Ajeet Singh village.

Led by a secret information, a police spokesman said the team raided the hideout in Ajeet Singh village and arrested two of the gang members with Rs20,000 in cash and five kilograms of charas.

INJURED: A couple was injured by dacoits during an unsuccessful bid on Wazirabad on Sunday.

According to details, three dacoits barged into Muhammad Azam’s house near a private hospital and started collecting cash and valuables. The couple, in the meantime, got up and overpowered one of the intruders. The dacoits injured the couple with knives and fled.

The injured were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) in critical condition.
