BADIN, March 3: The Pakistan Muslim League (QA) leaders demanded the government to write off the loans of the growers of those areas in Sindh where less than 50 per cent water was released for cultivation.

Addressing a public meeting on Saturday at Vanai Sharif, Badin District, the PML(QA) leaders said, “We are a progressive, liberal and democratic party which believes in freedom of individuals, and equality, and oppose all forms of exploitation.”

The president, PML(QA) Mian M. Azhar said that the democratic system would be unable to progress nor would social conditions in Pakistan improve unless the problems of the poor people were not solved.

Mr Azhar said that differences with Nawaz Sharif emerged on principles since Nawaz Sharif persuaded the wrong policies which were not only a serious blow to the party but also derailed democracy. Without democracy in the country, no one hoped any justice from any corner, he said.

He alleged that Nawaz Sharif spent a huge amount on the construction of the motorway, while 50,000km roads could have been constructed for the same amount.

Addressing the gathering, Ejaz-ul-Haq said that during his four-day tour of Sindh, it had been witnessed that people were living in the stone age and abject poverty.

He regretted the feelings of the Sindhi people of being deprived of their water share by Punjab. He said the impression was totally wrong because it was not Punjab but the ruling cadre which was responsible for creating a sense of deprivation among the Sindhi people.

Earlier, Syed Ali Bux Shah alias Papoo Shah, PML(QA) leader, in his welcome address said that Sindh was facing two burning issues: the water shortage, which was destroying the agricultural sector, and unemployment among the educated youth.

Our Nawabshah Correspondent adds: There has been no deal between the PML(QA) and the government, and the people who believe this are mistaken.

This was stated by the president, PML(QA), Mian M. Azhar while addressing a public gathering at Shahpur Jehanian, Daulatpur Taluka, the other night.

He said that the water crisis had created tension in the country and the people of Sindh were extremely disturbed due to the water shortage.

He further said that the PML would work hard to solve the problems of the people of Sindh.

He said that the people of Sindh had sacrificed a lot for Pakistan.
