KARACHI: India condemned for Muslims’ massacre

KARACHI, March 3 : The Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan on Sunday organised a protest rally outside the Karachi Press Club against the killings of hundreds of innocent Muslims and the destruction their properties by Hindu extremists.

The participants were holding placards and banners condemning the killings and were raising slogans against the OIC and the UN for remaining silent on the issue.

Speakers on the occasion demanded President Pervez Musharraf to formally lodge protest to India against the massacre of Muslims there.

The Anjuman- i- Tulaba- i- Islam (ATI) held a demonstration here at the NIPA crossing to protest against the killings of Muslims in India and the destruction of their properties, adds APP.

A according to a press release on Sunday, while addressing the demonstrators, ATI Karachi general secretary, Hamid Hussain Mustafai, said the massacre of Muslims had exposed India’s claim of adherence to “Ahinsa”.

He asked why international organisations and news media had maintained a mysterious silence over this orgy of killings. It showed their apathy towards the safety of Muslims, he added.

In a separate joint statement, former state minister Mir Nawaz Khan Marwat, chairperson Pakistan Himayat Tehreek, Dr Sarwar Sultana, chairman municipal committee UC-2 Firdous Colony, Bashir Ahmed, councillors Shakil Ahmed and Muhammad Ibrahim also expressed their protest over the massacre of Muslims in India. They said the Indian government had failed to control the genocide.

They criticised human rights organisations for their silence over the issue. They urged the government and international human right organisations to play an effective role to heck atrocities on Muslims.

The Awami Himayat Tehreek also staged a protest demonstration on Saturday to condemn the genocide of Muslims in India at the hands of Hindu extremists.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief of the organisation, Moulvi Syed Iqbal Haider, said India had been falsely portraying itself as a secular state, whereas the fact was that the Muslims there were treated as second grade citizens.

He said the riots in India were not an internal affair of that country.

He stated that since the Indian government had failed to stop the genocide of Muslims the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) should intervene.

The Mission- a human rights and welfare organisation, also condemned the atrocities committed against Muslims in India and urged the United Nations to play its role to protect to the Muslims in India.
