KARACHI: PBC regional awards


KARACHI, March 3: The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation’s Regional Excellence Award (Sindh) distribution ceremony was held on Saturday in the FTC auditorium.

Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs Maulana Wali Razi and Federal Information Secretary Anwar Mahmood were the guests of honour.

Prominent personalities from various walks of life including Squash legend Jehangir Khan, former information minister Nisar Memon and vice president of Arts Council S.H. Hashmi conferred the awards on producers, artistes, writers, engineers and other technical staff from Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur and Larkana stations of Radio Pakistan in recognition of their performance during 2001.

The awards for Naat went to Fahad Wahid Ali of Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad, which was conferred by Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs Wali Razi.

Parveen Khursheed, News Editor, Karachi, won award of category- News.

Bashiraan Jamal and Niaz Muhammad Shaikh- both from Radio Pakistan Khairpur, won awards of categories of news readers, Urdu and Sindhi respectively.

The other recipients of the awards were Shehnaz Rajpar (compere-female), Nazir Leghari (compere-male), Bushra Noor Khawaja (producer-religious broadcast), Rukhsana Mirani (best announcer-female), Ali Bakhsh Mari (best announcer-male), Barkat Ali Bhat (best vocalist light music-male), Humara Sara (best vocalist light music-female), Khalil Chana (best producer-drama) Gul Hasan Qureshi (best producer-documentary), Hayat Ali Bokhari (playwright) and Tahir Iqbal (engineer).—APP
