Fair allocation of funds promised: Governor announces judicial complex for Kohat
PESHAWAR, March 2: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has dispelled the impression that there is a partial allocation of development funds and maintained that to remove the sense of deprivation three universities, one each in Kohat, Mansehra and Chakdarra, have been established.
Speaking at a gathering of the Kohat district Bar on Saturday, the governor said: “We are making efforts to bring all the district headquarters hospitals on a par with the tertiary health-care institutions.”
Unfortunately, he said, a vast area of province remained ignored and deprived in the development works done in the past, causing a sense of deprivation among people.
Talking about the improvement of facilities in the judicial system, he said the government had decided to launch an ‘Access to Justice Programme’ under which the condition of courts would be improved. He announced the construction of a judicial complex in Kohat under the programme.
Referring to the Kohat tunnel project, the governor expressed the hope that the rock which was a hurdle in the execution of the final phase of the scheme, would be ruptured by April 15.
He said the government was giving priority to the education sector and added that out of 12 model schools, two would be established by the labour department and the primary education endowment fund, besides the establishment of a police public school in the area.
The governor said a Girls Degree College under the Frontier Education Foundation would also start functioning in Kohat’s old women hospital’s building shortly.
The governor disclosed that all non-functional Basic Health Units in the province would be closed down and their buildings utilized for other constructive purpose. “We have received an offer from Al Shifa Organization for the establishment of a most modern Eye Hospital in Kohat and work on the project is expected to start soon.”
The government, he said, had also planned to reconstruct Khushalgarh Road for which Rs200 million had been earmarked. —APP
