Everton in last 8

LONDON, Feb 27 - Everton survived an early scare before beating first division Crewe 2-1 in their FA Cup fifth round replay Tuesday and will now visit fellow premier league strugglers Middlesbrough in the quarterfinals.

Crewe took a deserved lead in the 24th minute when 18-year-old Dean Ashton broke clear and slotted the ball under Steve Simonsen.

Everton, who failed to create a single chance in the teams’ 0-0 draw 10 days ago, equalised a minute before halftime when Tomasz Radzinski headed in.
