Two escape from police custody

TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 27: Two murder accused escaped from police custody on Wednesday at Kamalia from outside the court of additional district and sessions judge.

Police brought Imran of Chak 771-GB and Maqsood Amer of Chak 753-GB to the court.

Policemen who escorted them claimed that they threw chili powder in their eyes and tried to escape from their custody in chain. Some policemen followed them and succeeded in capturing Imran.

Maqsood is still at large.

ARREST CONDEMNED: District Press Club president Mian Manzoor Ahmad Naz has condemned the arrest of Rajana Press Club general secretary Rana Ghulam Sarwar Babar by police.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said Mr Babar was arrested in connection with an eight-year-old case.

Meanwhile, district club general secretary Tariq Saeed claimed that Mr Babar was being victimized for publishing news against some people close to the district Nazim who were allegedly trying to occupy state land.
