HYDERABAD, Feb 25: The [People of Hyderabad celebrated Eid-ul-Azha here on Saturday with traditional enthusiasm, zeal and religious sanctity and fervour like other parts of the country.

The celebrations started with Eid congregations, which were held in over 300 mosques and open places in all eight Talukas of Hyderabad district.

The main Eid congregations were held at Eid Gah, Thandi Sarak, Cantonment Eid Gah, Jamia Mosque, Saddar, Madina Mosque, Siro Ghat, Masjid Abul Fazal Abbas Qadam Gah and Mehfil-e-Hussain.

Ulema and Khatibs in their Eid sermons, highlighted the importance of the day when Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) was ready to sacrifice the life of his son, Hazrat Ismail (AS), on way of Allah Almighty.

They called upon the Muslims to follow the principles of Islam with true spirit in order to achieve progress and prosperity for Ummah.

The worshippers also offered special prayers for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country and success of the struggle of Muslims in different parts of the world, including Palestine and held Jammu and Kashmir.

After Eid congregations, thousands of animals were sacrificed in the district in accordance to fulfil Sunnat-i-Ibrahimi.

In connection with Eid celebrations, local newspapers brought out special supplements while Radio Pakistan Hyderabad also broadcast special Eid programmes.

The local administration has made strict security arrangements in order to maintain law and order during Eid celebrations, however, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the district.—APP
