KARACHI: 11 cars, 16 bikes hijacked: Bandits shoot man to death

KARACHI, Feb 19: Bandits shot a man to death and injured his son in Pak Colony on Tuesday.

Police said four armed men entered the house of Manzoor Ahmed, aged 65, in Zubairi Colony, Pak Colony, in the early hours of Tuesday. As the bandits held the occupants of the house at gunpoint and began collecting valuables, Manzoor Ahmed and his son Mansoor Ahmed, aged 35, put up resistance to them.

The bandits opened fire wounding father and son and fled away leaving the loot behind.

The injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced Manzoor Ahmed dead on arrival. Mansoor was admitted to the hospital.

CARJACKING:Twenty-seven vehicles — 11 cars and 16 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Tuesday, police said.

Seven cars were hijacked. Four others were stolen.

Eight motorcycles were hijacked. Eight others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Tuesday to have recovered four stolen cars (W-8115, W-7935, ADK-698, ACK-162) and four stolen motorcycles (KCS-8490, LOD-235, RNE-609, and KAA-2746).

ROBBERIES: One theft and two robberies were committed in the city on Tuesday, the police said.

Javed lodged an FIR at Clifton police station that unknown persons stole his mobile phone.

Mohammed Shafeeq lodged a complaint at Ibrahim Hyderi police station that unidentified men robbed him of cash, a TV set and jewellery.

Zameer Ahmed lodged an FIR at Mominabad police station that two unidentified bandits robbed him of cash in Orangi Town.

WOUNDED: Two unidentified young men shot and wounded a milkman in Soldier Bazaar when he refused to pay extortion money to them.

Police said Mohammed Yasin, aged 35, was sitting at his milk shop at Al- Naveed Street when two young men came there and demanded money from him.

When Yasin refused, they shot and wounded him and escaped on a motorcycle.

The milkman was rushed to Civil Hospital where he was admitted.

DIES OF BURNS: A policeman suffered burns in his home in New Karachi. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

Police said Zafarullah, aged 55, accidentally suffered burns in his home in Sector J-5 in New Karachi. He was a chronic drug addict and disowned by his family because of his addiction. He had since been living alone in New Karachi. He was posted at North Nazimabad police station.

Sources at the hospital said Zafarullah had suffered 30 per cent burns and it appeared that he had been killed.
