KARACHI, Feb 16: Twenty-five vehicles — 12 cars and 13 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Saturday, the police said.

Police sources said that bandits hijacked six cars in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Ferozabad, Clifton and other areas. Six others were stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and the central parts of the city.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Eight others were stolen.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A student of Karachi University was killed by a Metrobus near the Model Colony checkpost on Saturday.

The police said that Usman Javed, aged 24, a student of BSc (Hons), was on his was way on a motorcycle when he was hit by a Metrobus (PE-4730) near the Model Colony checkpost in Malir Cantt police limits. He died on the spot, the police said, adding that they arrested the driver, Javed Masih, and impounded the vehicle.

DIE: A woman and her son were run over by a train in Malir City on Saturday.

The woman, with her three-year-old son, was walking across the railway tracks in Malir City when the accident took place, the police said.
