RIYADH, Feb 13: Forty pilgrims travelling by a bus from the United Arab Emirates to Makkah for performing Haj were killed on Wednesday in a road accident in eastern Saudi Arabia, the official SPA news agency reported.

The dead included 37 Pakistanis, one Saudi, one Egyptian and one Syrian.

Ten other people were injured in the accident, which happened in Al-Ihsaa province at 3:00am (05:00am PST).

The embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh is making efforts to obtain the names and other details of the deceased Pakistanis. These particulars would be made available as soon as possible, embassys spokesman said, adds APP.
