Protesting clerks held in Quetta

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Feb 11: Police arrested 75 protesting clerks who wanted to stage a sit-in in front of the Governor House in support of their demands, here on Monday.

“We have arrested 75 clerks on the violation of section 144 in Quetta city,” police sources confirmed late night.

Clerks of different government departments gathered at the lawns of Municipal Corporation for holding protest meeting on the appeal of the All Pakistan Clerks Association, Quetta.

They chanted slogans against the government while office-bearers of the association strongly criticized the government for not approving 40 per cent utility allowance.

Quetta City Government Nazim Mohammad Rahim Kakar and other officials held talks with the leaders of protesting clerks and assured them that their demands would be sent to the provincial government.

The leaders of the clerks, despite the assurance of the Nazim, started moving towards Governor House to stage a sit-in.
