ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: Seasoned Taimur Hasan carded par 72 Sunday to claim the gross title in the PTC Golf Tournament at the Islamabad Club course.
Taimur had a score of 34 on the front and 38 on the back nine and struck five birdies while double bogeying the 15th hole. His birdies came on the second, sixth, seventh, ninth and eighteenth holes and he finished ahead of Shahid Gulraiz who had a score of 74.
Tariq Mahmood of Navy also carded an identical 74 but was relegated to third place because Gulraiz’s score was better on the back nine.
Gulraiz birdied the sixth, eight and ninth holes and bogeyed on the second, third, fourth, tenth and eleventh.
Brig. Tanveer with a score of 68 took the top honours in the Net Category I which was the main event for golfers with a handicap of 15 and below. The brigadier had a handicap of 12.
Shahid Gulraiz and Najeeb Sadiq with 69 each were declared joint runners up.
Dr. Zahid emerged the winner in the Net Category II with a score of 65 and Lt. Col Mahmood Sultan was second on 67 and K.U. Farooqi third with 68.
Mrs Khalid Saleem clinched the ladies putting competition while Mrs Aslam Khaliq and Mrs. Abdullah Shah were second and third.
A field of 124 golfers competed in the tournament including those from Jhelum and Peshawar Golf Clubs.
The annual event is organised by Pakistan Tobacco Company every year.
