Two policemen injured

LAKKI MARWAT, Feb 10: Two policemen were seriously injured when unknown assailants opened fire on a police mobile patrolling the Indus Highway in the Ghaznikhel area here early on Sunday morning.

One of the constables was shifted to a Peshawar hospital for treatment, while the other was admitted to a local hospital.

The mobile team, headed by Platoon Commander Sattar Khan, came under indiscriminate fire attack from unknown gunmen near Madina Hotel on the Indus Highway, some 20 kilometres from here. As a result, two policemen, Mumtaz Khan and Abdul Samad Khan, received serious injuries.

They were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Lakki city. However, doctors referred Abdul Samad Khan for further treatment to Peshawar.

The mobile van was also damaged in the firing and its screen and mirrors were smashed.
