Call to give teachers their due

MULTAN, Feb 10: The status of teachers will keep deteriorating if the government continues to recruit them on a contract.

This was stated by Tanzeem-i-Asaataza Pakistan President Jahan Badsha while speaking to the newsmen here on Sunday.

As the policy of recruitment was not result-oriented, he said the government had not recruited the police and military officers on a contract, adding the same should be done in the education department.

He said class-based education system had rendered harm to the national integrity, urging the government to introduce uniform system of education in the country.

Violation of merit used to be a routine in the past he said, adding the results did not favour education.

He condemned the government’s decision for not promoting teachers although they deserved.

Medical funds for teachers should also be increased as it would help them improving their living standards, he demanded.—Nouman
